Volunteer Opportunities

The Alumni Association offers a variety of ways for you to stay involved in your university. Tell us how you'd like to volunteer.

Alumni / Admissions Volunteers

This site will provide all of the opportunities for alumni interested in assisting the Office of Admissions. There are a variety of ways to help and descriptions of each are listed below. Alumni volunteers are essential to the recruitment process and all efforts are appreciated! Your efforts allow UIndy to make a lasting impression on students considering enrolling in the University of Indianapolis.

Here are some other simple ways to help bring prospective students to your alma mater:

  • Recommend a Student: This is a form for you to recommend a student whom you believe to be a good match for UIndy.
  • Alumni Caller: Volunteer by contacting and congratulating students who have been admitted to the University of Indianapolis.
  • Summer Recruitment Help: Assist in summer recruitment efforts by providing a phone and meeting space for Admissions Office summer representatives (UIndy undergrads) to call and/or meet with prospective students in your area
  • Alumni Scholarship Sponsor: Be an alumni sponsor of a student who is applying for the Alumni Scholarship the highest conversion rate of all UIndy scholars for recipients awarded to students enrolled.
  • Alumni College Fair Representatives: Help at regional college fairs. Target cities in need of volunteers (training provided) are Chicago, Louisville, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Grand Rapids (MI), and Nashville (TN).
  • Two for Two Business Cards: We proud of our alumni and what they have accomplished and we love bragging about that to prospective student. Providing our office with two current business cards allows us to showcase your accomplishments in our business card display, located in our Esch Hall lobby.
  • Fee Wavier Request: Request an admissions fee waiver ($20 value) available to alumni and given to a prospective student.
  • Meet Your Counselor: Find out who represents the area in which you live and send them an email to see how you can help!

Alumni Legacy Program

Do you have a high school-age child, niece, nephew, brother, sister, or other relative? If so, we would love to help your family member become a future University of Indianapolis graduate. Through the cooperative efforts of the Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of Admissions, we are looking for family members of University of Indianapolis alumni to be a part of the next story to be written. All too often the time, value, and attention we give students are not passed on from generation to generation, and we are looking to stretch that gap. A $1,500 Legacy Scholarship is available for incoming freshmen enrolling each fall. For more information or to receive an application for the Legacy Scholarship, download the application online or contact the Office of Admissions at 1-866-421-7173.

Young Alumni

This group is designed to meet the needs of graduates of the last 10 years. This sector of the alumni population comprises about one-third of the total alumni population. They plan social events of interest to the younger alumni population and also work to establish an outreach program geared toward increasing participation of recent graduates in the annual fund. Other initiatives include supporting the transition from undergraduate to alumni by participating in Senior Salute.

Alumni Ambassadors Welcome International Students

This unique alumni association program serves the needs of new arriving international students. Alumni International Ambassadors augment the services of the University's Office of International Programs in extending a warm welcome to newly arriving international students at the start of fall and spring terms. Volunteers may be called upon to host an international student for a holiday meal in their home extending both hospitality and providing a living example of American culture. It also increases student awareness of the Alumni Association.

Greyhound Career Connection Program

Are you interested in being an alumni contact within your organization or profession? Would you be able to recommend UIndy grads for job openings or be a source of internships for undergraduates? As a Greyhound Connection volunteer, you may be asked to provide a brief one-hour or less mentoring session to a student or alumnus/a who seeks employment in your profession. Help be the eyes and ears for your alma mater in finding jobs and internships for UIndy students and alumni.

Across the Miles Contact

As a volunteer, you would serve as an alumni contact in your geographic area. If your area has a large enough alumni population, we can discuss an alumni gathering planned with your assistance. Occasionally we have requests from alumni who are relocating and want to talk to an alumnus/a in their new town. Sometimes, academic departments need an alumni contact in another city. Because these projects described are sporadic, you may not hear from us until a need arises.
