Volunteer Opportunities
As an alumnus of UIndy, you are welcome to give back to your alma mater as a volunteer. Read the list below for the different ways that you can volunteer.
Alumni Admissions Volunteers
There are a variety of ways alumni interested in volunteering with the Office of Admissions can help. Alumni volunteers are essential to the recruitment process and all efforts are appreciated! Your efforts allow UIndy to make a lasting impression on students considering enrolling at UIndy.
Here are some other simple ways to help bring prospective students to your alma mater:
- Recommend a Student: Recommend a student whom you believe would be a good fit for UIndy and UIndy would be a good fit for him/her.
- Alumni Caller: Volunteer by contacting and congratulating students who have been admitted to UIndy.
- Summer Recruitment Help: Assist in summer recruitment efforts by providing a phone and meeting space for Admissions Office summer representatives (UIndy undergrads) to call and/or meet with prospective students in your area
- Alumni Scholarship Sponsor: Be an alumni sponsor of a student who is applying for the Alumni Scholarship the highest conversion rate of all UIndy scholars for recipients awarded to students enrolled.
- Alumni College Fair Representatives: Help at regional college fairs. Target cities in need of volunteers (training provided) are Chicago, Louisville, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Grand Rapids (MI), and Nashville (TN). To help, find out which admissions counselor is responsible for your region and send him/her an email detailing your availability. Admissions counselor search.
- Two for Two Business Cards: We proud of our alumni and what they have accomplished and love bragging about UIndy alumni to prospective students. Providing the Office of Admissions with two current business cards allows us to showcase your accomplishments in our business card display, located in our Esch Hall lobby.
- Fee Wavier Request: Request an admissions fee waiver ($20 value) and give it to a prospective student.
For more information on any of the volunteer opportunities listed above contact the Office of Admissions at (317) 788-3216, 1-866-421-7173, or admissions@uindy.edu.
Alumni Ambassadors Welcome International Students
This unique alumni association program serves the needs of new arriving international students. Alumni International Ambassadors augment the services of the University's Office of International Programs in extending a warm welcome to newly arriving international students at the start of fall and spring terms. Volunteers may be called upon to host an international student for a holiday meal in their home extending both hospitality and providing a living example of American culture. It also increases student awareness of the Alumni Association.
Greyhound Career Connection Program
Are you interested in being an alumni contact within your organization or profession? Would you be able to recommend UIndy grads for job openings or be a source of internships for undergraduates? As a Greyhound Connection volunteer, you may be asked to provide a brief one-hour or less mentoring session to a student or alumnus/a who seeks employment in your profession. Help be the eyes and ears for your alma mater in finding jobs and internships for UIndy students and alumni.
Across the Miles Contact
As a volunteer, you would serve as an alumni contact in your geographic area. As a contact you could serve several purposes.
- Alumni Event: Help the Alumni Association plan an alumni event near you. If you live in an area with a large alumni population, contact the Office of Alumni Relations so we can help you plan a UIndy alumni event.
- Relocation Contact: Speak with alumni who are relocating and want to talk to an alumnus/a in their new town.
- Academic Help: Academic departments may need an alumni contact as they travel for conferences and recruitment.
