Alumni Trip to Germany & The Czech Republic
September 19 - September 27, 2007
Discover the heart of mainland Europe, a land of fascinating history and diverse cultural traditions, a region of stunning natural beauty dotted with fairytale castles and picturesque medieval towns and villages. From Bad Kissingen, a charming spa town near Frankfurt, Germany to Prague, the Czech Republic’s beautiful capital city, the variety of wonderful sights is sure to delight you.
Germany (Bad Kissengen):
This famous Franconian spa town, perfectly located in the heart of the Rhön National Park, was frequently visited by many former kings and emperors who recognized its many charms as well as its valuable natural resources. Still popular today, with its Mediterranean flair and magnificent flourishing gardens and parks, Bad Kissingen is a wonderful treasure, located just east of Frankfurt. Take a leisurely walk past historical buildings and unique shops in the picturesque town center, or visit one of the delightful coffee shops or restaurants, many with outdoor seating, to enjoy culinary delights, relaxing music and perhaps some of the traditional Franconian wines. Many sport activities, museums, a casino, and a variety of entertainment all add to the town's appeal.
Czech Republic (Prague):
One of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Prague is a totally enchanting living museum as charming now as it was centuries ago. History comes alive in the narrow, medieval cobbled streets and ornate Baroque facades around Staromestske Namesti (Old Town Square) and in the restored elegance of Mala Strana’s (Lesser Town) tranquil streets, square and arcaded buildings where Mozart and Kafka wandered. Spanning the river between the two quarters is the impressive 14th century Charles Bridge, with a busy throng of pedestrians, artists, puppeteers and musicians, overtaken by the sights and sounds that represent the burgeoning Westernization of Prague. Above it all, dominating the skyline, the citadel of Prague Castle looks down upon the stunning panorama of a fascinating city, swept along by the winds of change and yet so wonderfully unspoiled.
Optional excursions will be available to pre-book at 45 days prior to departure, at an additional charge and are subject to change.
