Alumni Association Board of Directors Commitment to Serve

Are you interested in serving on the Alumni Association Board of Directors or know someone that would be an asset? Please read the following commitment to serve form to gain an understanding of what it means to be a director on the Alumni Association board.

ROLES

  • To contribute to the development of the Alumni Association's mission and to participate in governing the implentation of that mission.

  • To fulfill the functions of the position of director as outlined in the Board policy manual.  The implementation of this role is expressly limited to those activities and functions not directly or indirectly delegated to the Office of Alumni Relations staff.

DUTIES

  • Attend all meetings of the association and board of directors unless excused.

  • Serve on and fully participate on a subcommittee as assigned by the President and contribute to its purpose.

  • Be an annual contributor to the university’s fundraising initiatives.

  • Recruit and develop potential board members, committee members and chairmen.

  • Represent the alumni association at university events.

  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the president.

  • Contribute to the academic, social, spiritual well being of the University of Indianapolis.

  • Act as an ambassador, promoter and advocate of the university - everyday, in every way available.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Place high priority on my attendance at all board meetings, committee meetings and task forces in which I serve.

  • Come prepared to contribute to the discussion of issues and business at hand, having read the agenda and supplementary materials for each meeting.

  • Represent the University of Indianapolis Alumni Association in a positive and professional manner at all times in all places.

  • Observe parliamentary procedures during board meetings. 

  • Support in a positive manner all actions taken by the Board of Directors even when I am in a minority position on such actions.

  • Keep in communication with the Office of Alumni Relations regarding my contact information, responses for meeting attendance, and will take initiative to follow up after meetings if I am absent.
